Parent Update – June 23rd, 2023

This will be the last update for this school year.

We are so proud of our students!

Here is some final information:

Summer School

• If your child is recommended to attend summer school, we will contact you before the registration date

Report Cards

• Report cards will be published to the parent portal on June 28^th – please contact Ms. Anne Spear (annespear@wqsb.ca.ca) if you do not have your login information
• Ministry transcripts for grade 10 & 11 students will be made available on the Student Ministry Portal the week of July 4^th

• Your child’s ID number and permanent code can be found on their report card

Affirming Names

• We are now able to support our non-binary and trans students by having their affirming name, gender marker and pronouns appear on school documents
• Here is additional information and a request form if it pertains to your child

  • Affirming Name and Gender Form (please note that a parent/guardian must sign this form)

Graduation Event

• We are looking forward to celebrating our graduates on Wednesday June 28^th at 2pm
• Here are some details for parents and graduates:

Parents

• The doors will open for guests at 1:30pm
• Guests can park in the bus parking lot near the cafeteria/gymnasium
• Guests will enter through the cafeteria doors
• Please find the table with your child’s last name
• An usher will bring you to your assigned seat
• The ceremony is expected to be approximately 2 hours in length

Graduates

• Graduates should arrive between 1-1:30pm in order to receive their gowns and to be brought to the proper location
• Please ensure your child is on time
• Graduates will enter through the D’Arcy parking lot doors
• Graduates must return their gowns by 5:30pm on June 28^th
• Graduates will receive their gradbooks following the ceremony

Prom

• There may be a change of venue for the prom
• The school does not organize prom and any questions need to be addressed directly with the organizing company www.promnight.ca

It has been such a wonderful year at Symmes and D’Arcy McGee.
