D’Arcy McGee Midterms
- Please note that our formal midterm session for D’Arcy students is February 2nd – 6th, 2025
- Attendance during midterms and final exams is mandatory and as per the Ministry of Education Guidelines, only the following reasons for student absences will be accepted:
· Illness or accident confirmed by a medical report or certificate
· Death of a close relative
· A court summons
· Participation in a provincial or national event
- Regular classes will be running during the times when your child does not have an exam scheduled
- The finalized midterm schedule will be published after the winter break

- Parents will also have an opportunity to meet their child’s teacher and tour the school

This meeting is open to those who signed up at the activities fair and also to those of you who are just curious about what Destination Imagination is all about. See you there!
Announcements
Dear Students, Cadet Boys basketball (Grade 9) tryouts will begin this Wednesday September 10th at 1:30pm – 3:45pm at the D’Arcy gym. Please bring your indoor shoes, shorts and water bottle, be ready to compete. Tryouts will also take place on the following dates: Friday Sept 12th 6:15pm to 7:45pm Monday Sept. 15th 6:15pm to 7:45pm Wednesday Sept. 17th 1:30pm to 3:30pm Friday Sept. 19th 6:15pm to 7:45pm We encourage all athletes to attend all tryout practices. We will keep up to 12 players for the 2025-2026 season. During tryouts, players will be evaluated on the following:
1. The player’s fundamental skills
2. How the player functions as a teammate and leader
3. The player’s attitude and effort
4. Attendance at tryouts
Students who do not make the team are encouraged to continue working on their skills and to tryout again next year. Almost every year, we have students who make the team in grade 10 who did not make the team in grade 9 because they continued to play and work on their skills. There are many ways to improve, such as playing in other organized leagues or by attending one of the many camps that are offered in our area.
ATTENTION VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS!! Girls Juvenile Volleyball Tryouts will start this week!

We’re thrilled to launch the official Fall season for the Girls’ Inclusive Rugby Team! All skill levels are welcome, no experience is necessary! Come join us as you are, whether you’re a totally new or an experienced player. Practices are every Monday and Thursday from 3:45 to 5:30 pm and will take place at the field. Hey grade sevens and eights! Are you interested in joining the Symmes Yearbook and Student Council Committee? If so please come to an information session in Ms. Matthews’ room 230 at lunch on Friday, September 12 to learn more or sign up.
Band rehearsals are starting next week! Students involved in the D’Arcy Band will begin rehearsals on Wednesday morning September 10th. Symmes Jr Band players are asked to come to a quick meeting in the Music Room 110 on Wednesday, Sept 10th at lunch at 1pm. D’Arcy Band will meet on Day 6 lunches and Symmes Band will meet on Day 1 and Day 7 lunches. Students are asked to check Teams to see their instrument cases and important information. Open jam will begin on Thursday, Sept 11th day 8 at lunch and will run on day 5 and day 8s.
