Dear Families,
I hope you are doing well.
Here is some information for this week:
Formal Exam Session
- Our formal exam session begins next week (schedule attached)
- Here is a video detailing the exams taking place next week:
- On Monday, all students EXCEPT grade 11 French Immersion students will attend regular classes
- On Tuesday, all SYMMES students will attend regular classes all day and there will be regular classes running in the afternoon for all students following the D’Arcy French exams in the morning
- Starting on Wednesday, students only come to school if they have an exam
- Buses will depart at the regular time (3:45pm) and students are welcome to remain at school supervised in the cafeteria
- Students can also choose to leave after their exam (walk, bike, city bus, parent ride)
- Students will be writing exams in air-conditioned spaces (gyms, portables) and they are reminded to bring a sweater as it can be chilly
- Attendance during final exams is mandatory and as per the Ministry of Education Guidelines, only the following reasons for student absences will be accepted:
· Illness or accident confirmed by a medical report or certificate
· Death of a close relative
· A court summons
· Participation in a provincial or national event
Screen Time and Studying
- Please review the attached documents with suggestions for screen time and studying
Lockers
- Our caretakers will begin cutting students locks and emptying out lockers on June 15th
- Please remind your child to bring home all of their belongings for the summer
EPCA Letter
- I have attached a letter that we received from the English Parents’ Committee of Quebec
- The letter is in regards to the government’s decision to table Bill 8 (the extension of Bill 101)
- EPCA is asking parents to consider signing and sending the letter to your MNA
- French and English versions attached
Upcoming Dates
- June 12th – Grade 8 Awards Ceremony – only parents of children receiving awards will receive an invitation
- June 15th – Grade 7 Awards Ceremony – only parents of children receiving awards will receive an invitation
- June 24th – Holiday
- June 25th – Graduation
